How It Works
Four steps from form to finished job. Free for you. The matched tradie is the one you'll work with end-to-end — we make the introduction and stay involved if anything goes sideways.
Step 1 — Submit the form
Fill in the form on any page. We need:
- Your name + phone — for the matched tradie to call
- Your suburb — so we match locally
- The trade you need — lawn mowing, handyman, possum removal, etc.
- A sentence about the job — and a photo if it helps clarify
You can submit 24/7. Matching happens Mon–Sat 8am–5pm.
Step 2 — We match you to a vetted tradie
Within the hour during business hours, we pick the best-fit tradie for your job. Our matching considers:
- Trade match — only tradies with proven experience in your specific trade
- Geographic proximity — closest physical address to your suburb
- Current rating — highest Google rating with the most recent reviews
- Recent response speed — tradies who consistently call back within the hour get preference
- Availability window — if you need it this week, we match someone who has the slot
You get a text or email with the matched tradie's name, photo, current rating, and a one-line introduction.
Step 3 — The tradie quotes + does the work
The matched tradie contacts you directly. From here:
- They quote — usually by phone, sometimes after a free site visit for bigger jobs
- You agree the price + book a time — directly with them
- The work happens — they turn up, do the job, send before/after photos
- You pay them directly — card, transfer, or invoice (30-day terms for agency accounts)
We don't touch the money. The matched tradie's quote is the price you pay — no platform fee gets added.
Step 4 — We follow up
48 hours after the booking date passes, we send you one email asking:
- Did the tradie show up on time?
- Was the work to standard?
- Anything we should know?
Your answer feeds back into the tradie's platform record. Bad jobs → strikes → eventual removal. Good jobs → preference on future matches. The feedback loop is what keeps the vetted pool actually vetted.
What if something goes wrong
We have a written match promise. Read it in full on /match-promise/. The short version:
- Tradie ghosts after introduction → we re-match same day, free
- Tradie can't fit you in within the agreed window → we re-match free
- Tradie quotes outside the platform's published floor rate → we audit + re-quote
- Workmanship issue within their warranty window → we chase them on your behalf
Why we work this way
The big tradie directories (Airtasker, Hipages, Oneflare) make their money taking a cut of every job — so their incentive is volume, not quality. Anyone with $79 and an ABN can list.
We charge tradies a flat monthly fee instead. That means:
- Our incentive aligns with the customer, not with extracting fees
- We can say no to tradies who don't meet the standard, because we're not losing $20 a lead by doing so
- The matched tradie's quote isn't padded with a hidden platform cut
Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the whole flow?
Form to first match: usually under an hour during business hours. Match to quote from the tradie: usually under 24 hours. Match to completed job: usually within the week.
Is there a cost to me as a customer?
No. The platform is free to use for customers. The tradies pay us via a monthly subscription.
Can I be matched to a specific tradie?
Yes. Name them in the form and we route the job to them directly if they're available.
Can I see the tradie's reviews before they call me?
Yes — the introduction email links to their Google Business Profile so you can read every review they have.
What if I want a second opinion / second quote?
Reply to the introduction email and say "send me a second match". We send a second vetted tradie. We don't limit the number of matches per job, but we do ask you to give each tradie a fair chance before declining.
Can the tradie I'm matched with also work on jobs outside the platform?
Yes — they're independent businesses. We just match you to good ones.
What stops tradies from charging more on the platform than off-platform?
Two things: (1) the platform-wide "from" rates we publish on the /pricing/ page set a floor that customers can see; (2) we audit tradie quotes quarterly. Tradies who consistently quote above their off-platform rate lose their listing.
