Reviews

There are two kinds of reviews that matter on a curated tradie platform:

1. The reviews of the vetted tradies themselves. Every tradie on Services Victoria carries a Google rating of ≥4.5★ before they're allowed on the platform. We re-check quarterly.
2. The reviews of our matching service. Did the match happen quickly? Was the tradie the right fit? Did the job go through cleanly?

This page covers both.

Tradie ratings — the floor

The platform's vetting standard requires:

• ≥4.5★ average on Google over a minimum of 20 ratings
• No more than 3 unresolved complaints across all jobs
• No active VCAT or fair-trading disputes
• 12+ months in business under the current ABN

We currently say NO to about 60% of tradie applications. That's the filter. Other directories (Airtasker, Hipages) list everyone who pays — we don't.

Live tradie ratings

Every tradie on the platform has their current Google rating + review count displayed on their profile page. When you get matched, you can click through to read their actual reviews before booking. No hidden ratings.

Matching-service reviews

This is feedback specifically about the matching experience — not the tradie's work, but our job of getting you the right tradie. Things like:

• Did we call back within the hour during business hours?
• Was the matched tradie a good fit for your job?
• Did we follow up after completion?

We collect this via a one-question email sent 48 hours after job completion. Honest responses get published — including the bad ones, with our reply attached.

What a "bad match" looks like

We define a bad match as any of:

• The matched tradie ghosted after the introduction → we re-match free + the original loses their platform listing
• The matched tradie couldn't fit the job in within the customer's needed window → we re-match free
• The matched tradie's quote was wildly outside the platform's published floor rate → we audit the quote with them

If you've experienced any of these, tell us — we want to fix it AND learn from it.

Why we don't fake reviews

Two reasons:

1. It's illegal under Australian Consumer Law. Penalties are real.
2. Google detects it. Listings that participate in fake-review networks get filtered, suppressed in the map pack, and eventually delisted from Google Business Profile. Long-term, fake reviews lose us more rankings than they buy.

How to leave a review

After a job completed through Services Victoria, you'll receive:

1. A direct link to our Google Business Profile — for reviewing the matching service
2. A direct link to the tradie's Google Business Profile — for reviewing their workmanship

We never pre-write reviews, never offer incentives for positive ones, and never delete negative ones from our own profile. We do respond to all of them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are tradie ratings real or made up?

We pull them directly from Google Business Profile via the Maps Reviews API + cross-check against Hipages and Oneflare quarterly. If a tradie's actual public rating drops below 4.5★ between quarterly checks, they get a warning then suspension.

Can a customer leave a review without booking through Services Victoria?

Yes — anyone can review the matching service on our Google Business Profile. We pay attention to all of them.

Can a tradie remove a bad review from their profile?

No. We can dispute one with Google if it breaks Google's policy (e.g. competitor sabotage from a brand-new account). Otherwise it stays.

Why is "412 listed reviews" so low?

Because we're new (formed 2026) and small. We've intentionally vetted a small initial pool of tradies deeply rather than listing thousands shallowly. Numbers grow each month.
